4.3.1.4. Tangent to Circle

With the function Calculate > Intersections > Tangent you can calculate the points of contact of the two tangents starting from a selected point and save these as coordinates.  Specify the point by entering the point number. Alternatively, the point can also be clicked on in the GART-2000® CE  graphical screen.

With the button <Option> the definition of the circles can be selected from a list.

The circle and the tangents are displayed in the graphic field.

By making an entry in the field Distance, the points of contact can be displaced if required.

The calculation of the tangent points is initiated by pressing <OK>. The calculation results in the output of positional coordinates for both points of contact (cross points).

If you wish to save the coordinates of Contact Point 1, click on the <S1> button; for the coordinates of Contact Point 2, click on <S2>, and for the averaged coordinates from both points, click on <Average>. You automatically enter the coordinate input menu, where you can allocate point numbers and save the points.

In the graphic field the cross points 1 and 2 are denoted by S1 and S2.
